How interesting.
I wonder if the press will be dogging him like they did Gillispie.
No, probably not.

Donovan
He may feel like this recruit was “grandfathered” in. It’s possible that the recruit was offered prior to the NABC recommendation.
I’m just trying to provide Billy boy the “benefit of the doubt”.

Defense
His defenders are saying that maybe he didn’t offer; this kid just declared he wanted to play for the Gators. Whether we believe that or not is irrelevant in light of the bigger question: What does the NABC “request” that coaches do in a case like that?

Irrelevant ...
... nobody can claim a scholarship that way. One had to be offered. If Donovan accepted him as a scholarship player, that happened de facto.
But frankly, I am a Donovan defender. I think he’s right, and he just decided, apparently, to trust his own judgment over that of the NABC. Works for me.

"Right"
Oh, I didn’t mean to comment on whether or not Donovan was “right;” I just wanted to point out a perceived problem with the NABC’s request. I guess there was a little confusion on my part on the meaning of “committed.”
