Gillispie: Setting the Standard
Interesting read. This guy comes up with some interesting theories regarding young recruitment that are compelling to say the least.

Interesting Read
I think Roy Williams and Billy Donovan are the top recruiters among college (head) coaches.
Both are taking younger commitments.

Well welcome our Coach G....
Whether one likes it or not….it is the new age of recruiting.
The parents and the kid can get rid of the AAU stuff, and the recruit can go about his academics and sports.

New Idea
I hadnt really thought of the extra years these kids get preparing to play ball under specific guidance from their college coach. That really would be a major pro to the whole early recruiting saga.

Ulterior motive?
Just a thought, while I do agree that the author has brought forth some excellent points in support of this recruiting strategy, could this be the long way around the barn to justify Donovan’s recruitment of Rivers? May not be the case, as he does portray BCG in a rather favorable light., in spite of the NABC’s stand on the issue. But I’m just saying….

I think ...
... Donovan’s recruitment of Rivers was just fine. My complaint was the media double-standard.

Vitale Double Standard (Perhaps)
I don’t think it was much more than that.

Sure it was.
Outrage poured from everywhere when Gillispie did the exact same thing. Crickets when Donovan did it, even if we throw out Vitale.
