UK Football video
You folks have to check out this video by Dustin Smith. Mr. Smith contacted me today with a link to his UK football song and video.
It is outstanding. Last year Dustin wrote a song in an effort to promote Andre' Woodson and the other seniors final season. He did such a great job that this year UK football player Ventrell Jenkins asked him to do another song, this time with video. With the help of Joker Phillips, and nearly the entire team, Dustin put together this fantastic effort.
If this doesn't fire you up for football season ... you need to visit the coroner.
Thanks, Dustin.
EDITORS NOTE: UK Compliance Officer Sandy Bell asked Dustin to take the video down. Evidently the players taking part in the video constitutes a violation of NCAA statutes. According to Dustin, UK is in possession of the video.

Football...
Dustin does a great job promoting UK football with his videos. I had seen another last year and he has a great voice and talent.
Isn’t he a former marine? Those biceps are awesome!

Smith
He did a couple of songs last year. One I mention in my Fanshot, the other was a basketball song and video. That’s just the ones I know about.
He is talented, and huuuuuuuge.

In the words of Dick Enberg:
Oh my! We’ll be hearing for our U of L brethren about this one.
Two months (!). Two weeks. Two pencils.

The video is gone
First and foremost, thank all of you for your support and I greatly appreciate it. However, I had to take the “Believe in Blue” video down per UK. Hopefully they will put it back up. At any rate, GO CATS!!!!!!!!!!!

Video
Sandy Bell, UK’s compliance officer asked Dustin to take it down.
Evidently the players taking part in the video was breaking some arcane, ridiculous NCAA statute.

NCAA Rule?
How can that be?...others are all over the internet?...not just UK.

The players being in the video is what makes it a compliance issue.
In ‘85, Steve Alford posed for a calendar put together by an IU sorority in an effort to raise money for charity. The athletic department staff found out about it and self-reported the violation. While waiting for an NCAA ruling Alford had to sit a game, which happened to be against UK.
Smith’s video doesn’t involve commerce, as far as I can tell, but Sandy Bell was concerned enough to ask that it be turned over to the University. As Tony Neely wrote to me, the NCAA rules can be “tricky” and they have to ensure their players remain eligible.
They understand there was no intent to harm, but they have to protect the eligiblity of their athletes.

new video
any chance you’ll make a video for the song without the players in it? i’d really like to hear it, especially because i really enjoyed wildcat nation. i had that memorized, including the game commentary, when i first saw it just from listening to it so much!
GO BIG BLUE!! GO BIG BLUE!!

Glad to see you ...

Keep it up.
