Billy Packer is fired from CBS and NCAA tourney!
I will be able to watch NCAA tournament in peace now, finally! All UK fans can rejoice! I for one will be glad that the old man is gone, and I'm sure that there are tons of other people that will be happy he is gone too... Apparently his mouth may have gotten him into trouble that the network executives couldn't over look. Kansas UNC game he made comment that the game was over, and UNC made a come back later on and actually made it a good game.

Let this be a lesson to all of us...
You can spew racist, sexist, and homophobic comments with immunity. However, don’t you DARE embarass the tarheels while Roy is blowing another tournament game!

Great news!
Now the only other person that I need to be rid of, is our good friend Dick Vitale!

"Fired"
Hmmm… the article on ESPN.com made it sound like he was leaving to pursue other basketball opportunities. (My money says we see him doing games on ESPN next season.) It did note that there were criticisms of his work this year, but I didn’t think that was the reason for the split.
Of course its difficult, its a shortcut... if it was easy it'd just be "the way."

Clark Kellogg(spelling)
IMO he is the best there is….i could actually listen to him talk basketball all day. I met him when he played in the McDonalds All-Star game in the 80’s, he told me then if i worked hard and stayed with it, id be playing in that game someday too, needless to say it didnt work out, but his encouragement to a young kid still stays with me today. I think he is a class act.

I like ...
... Kellogg as well. He gets on my nerves sometimes, like they all do, but I infinitely prefer him to Packer.

I prefer white noise to Billy Packer
So this is great! He may “call games as he sees them,” but I don’t think he ever added anything to the broadcast and never had anything positive to say about Kentucky.
"Have you ever had your heart broken?"
"Yeah, when we lost the pennant in '87."

I'm a huge Kellogg fan
He speaks the truth but doesn’t do it in a mean spirited way ( when the truth is negative ).
I have softened on Packer a bit. I think he knows the game, and some of his insights are on the money, but he’s awfully gruff sometimes, and his ACC bias in bothersome.
When he said the “game is over” in the first half, I thought he came across as a frustrated fan, not an unbiased color man. Maybe he and Vitale can form their own network, and cover only the ACC plus the current “hot” team or coach. They can call it the “Homer Network”.

My whole life
Billy Packer has covered 34 final fours, I’ll turn 35 in November. I feel like I’ve been born blue again. Maybe now I can spend the second half of my life watchin’ our Cats with the sound on and not openly cursing about the game analysis. I use the term analysis loosely. There is absolutely nothing that I will miss about Billy Packer or his banal, one-sided, and frequently incorrect commentary.
