Lorenzen Waived by the Giants
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The Giants today trimmed their roster by waiving five players, including backup quarterback Jared Lorenzen, who had been with the organization since 2004.
Also released were four first-year players: Wide receiver Todd Lowber, long snapper Nick Leeson, defensive tackle Brian Soi and offensive lineman Jacobs Hobbs.
The moves leave the Giants with 81 players (including six unsigned draft choices).
Lorenzen was signed as a rookie free agent in 2004, the same year the Giants acquired Eli Manning. The lefthander from Kentucky did not play that season but served as a backup to Manning each of the next three years.

Some GM with an ounce of brains will pick up Double-Deuce ...

Exhibit A of what I was talking about ...
... Lorenzen would have a real possbility at getting some game-snaps with the Bears.
In a couple of years it could be Lorenzen v. Brohm in one of the biggest rivalries in the NFL.

FYI ...
... I had to edit your post slightly, rock19701.
We can’t post the full text of articles due to copyrights, so I trimmed it down and linked it. Don’t worry about it, it happens all the time, but just keep in mind that whenever you put up a news story, just quote part of it and link the rest.
Thanks for the article. Great find!
I suppose this is good news for AndrĂ© Woodson’s chances of remaining on the roster. I hope Jared finds another team soon.

Woodson
Is that the same team Andre Woodson went to?

Yep ...
... sure is.
Read the Kentucky.com article above, it explains that in detail.

Too bad about Jared
But I agree that a woeful QB situation like the Bears would be a good place for him… heck, I’d love to see him in the crimson and gold of the 49ers.
Of course its difficult, its a shortcut... if it was easy it'd just be "the way."

Pay Scale
IIRC, the NFL has a graduated pay scale based on time in the league. The Giants likely did not think that they needed to pay the raise since they coould get Woodson at the minimum for a drafted rookie plus Woodson has more upside. Just hope that someone needs a pretty darn good QB who has the heart that J-Lo has.
