Comments...

I am glad you finally put this here where we could comment on the newsfeed. I have been reading your comments for a bit.

I love the Lim’ricks site…gave me laugh of the day! especially Ky and Dicky…lol.

Thanks Tru for adding a bit to this site.

I thought ...

... that one was funny as well.

Another thing I want to comment on...

I have just been perusing to the other SB Nation sites, and they have not implemented all the great things that you have on this site. Kudos Tru!

Well ...

... I do try.

Of course, this time of year is rather slow, and people get into a “summer mode” on the blogs and message boards, which is fine. I just like to provide stuff for our members to read when they are not really worth a whole post on the font page.

Carlin...

I have to admit I never heard that much from him as I as a parent, in the 70’s did not allow HBO . I never had Internet access until 2001, so from what I have read I missed a lot, and he sounds like he was someone I would have absolutely loved for his honesty.

I feel that I lost a lot by never hearing his shows.

quick fix

it’s not the same, but you can go onto youtube, and find plenty of carlin videos…he’s been one of my favorites for years, and i easily spent 2+ hours watching clips of him today.

Hey thanks

UKWildCatFanatic. I went over to youtube today and heard all his comments about different sports.

All were hilarious, but his comment on golf really hit with me. I have played golf since my young years and heard so many comments about chasing the ball! lol…but anyone that ever played the game knows that it is a challenging sport. It helped me keep my sanity in the late 90’s and onward.

I always got a laugh ...

... out of Carlin.

I’m sorry to see his passing. He was a funny man.

Carlin shares the "Rules of the Road" with Jay and Silent Bob

The scene where Carlin shares the unwritten rules of the road in “Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back” is one of the funniest things in all of Kevin Smith’s movies. The fact that it leads to an unfortunate misunderstanding between Jay and a nun (played by Carrie Fischer) was even funnier.

He was also great as the Catholic Priest who introduces the “Buddy Christ” in Dogma.

Of course its difficult, its a shortcut... if it was easy it'd just be "the way."

UNC

IMO the Heels are going to have a tough time winning it all this year.

Players who come back after testing the draft waters can often have negative impacts. They’ve been listening to scouts for three months about how to improve their position and that isn’t always in the University’s best interests. Glenn Davis is a prime example, LSU struggled after he returned to school. Imagine that impact multiplied by three.

Not to mention all of the pressure and ‘ol Roy’s tendency to choke at the worst possible time…

Still not a crook!

Davis

Davis struggled after returning becuase he was the lone good player on his team left.

I just think he was pressing more.

Partly because of the lack of talent, but also because of what he knew he needed to work on.

All three Heels will be jacking up more shots, Ellington will work on driving to the hole, Lawson will try to be Chris Paul, Green will clamoring for more PT, and all the while Hansbrough will be overlooked.

Still not a crook!

by TrickyD26 on Jun 25, 2008 1:54 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

I disagree

I think that Roy Williams is going to have them playing just a bit better than that. Think how much better a coach ol Roy is compared to Jon Brady.

The SEC Speed Truth

I just read the post on the Penn State site and the comments.

Loved this one….”southern speed” ...I am so sick of hearing this. “The only thing they do faster in the South is run their mouths.”....or something similar to that.

Hilarious!

Good for you

Social networking sites rank below “a friend of mine who is close to the program” on my list of credible sources. As someone who has been studying computers since I was 8, I’ve found there are just too many ways to put false information out there through the internet.

Kentucky Football from icerocket...

I thought that article sounded all too familiar, and at the end Alex’s birthday?

I suppose Ken has joined Tru in the “copyrights violation club”. lol

by kykat51 on Jun 27, 2008 12:52 PM EDT   0 recs

Hey, wait a minute.

I am just now reading this thread, and now I need a good lawyer … or heck, even a bad one. Icerocket will henceforth be know as Kenrocket … well, after I am finished suing them into oblivion. J/K

At least give a brother a by-line.

by Ken Howlett on Jun 30, 2008 9:49 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

It's not icerocket ...

... that’s just a search engine. It was some blog who decided to reprint your article.

It happens to me all the time. The brother of one of the UK basketball walk-ons did that to me a couple of times on his blog, but I blew it off.

Now if it was Fanhouse or some huge blog, there would be a conversation with the owner. But these little know-nothing, do-nothing guys are hardly worth my time.

Pay for big games...

Not I…if i want to see a huge game I will go next door to one of my sisters’ who will always have access as they can afford, not I. And if I elect to not drive the 20 miles and stay the night….I would hope that many UK games are on radio or delayed broadcast.

The pay broadcasts will never get my money.

Tipton Again...

Why in the world does he have to be so pessimistic regarding anything UK basketball?

I do wish the LHL would retire him honestly.

by kykat51 on Jul 7, 2008 4:04 PM EDT   0 recs

Oh ...

... I don’t know. I really don’t mind him all that much, but it does baffle me why everything has to be glass-half-empty with him.

I have raged against him before, but quite honestly have come to terms with it. Actually, the article was pretty balanced, it’s just that lede that drove me nuts.

Vilarino and Tipton

If I had any contact with our recruits, I would tell them to refuse to talk to Tipton.

Our young recruits don’t need his bad ass attitude and I have had my fill of that guy.

Caracter and Pitino...

I think that is a joke, but perhaps Pitino is as least trying to give that kid a chance at some success. He should have left Louisville and tried elsewhere with his supposedly talent. I don’t see him fulfilling all the requisites that Pitino has required of him. But perhaps this is one way that Pitino has set up the NBA career for Caracter. The kid definitely needs some tough love and to mature.

Gottried

Mike Gottfried cracks me up. How this guy still has a job is one of the great mysteries of life. He has, at BEST, consistently underachieved since his arrival in Tuscaloosa, and reading the comments below the article about him, makes me think that the ‘Bama fans are tired of his talk.

Anybody seen Wimp?

by Ken Howlett on Jul 18, 2008 2:07 AM EDT   0 recs

Oh ...

... ‘Bama fans talk a bunch of stuff, but they could care less about basketball. It’s kind of sad, really.

Gottfreid is a great recruiter. If he could ever learn how to win games, he could coach anywhere.

Who would have imagined?

That Greg Norman, yes the “Shark”, would be the leader after the 3rd round of the British Open.
He has set a new record as the oldest person to be leading a Majors after the 3rd day.
Should be very exciting tomorrow to see if he can hold his game together and win this!
