Around SBN: Stan Van Gundy Fired As Head Coach Of The Magic

Pretty much as we all expected. No surprise here.

Take care, Derrick. We enjoyed you while you were here.

Where we expected I think

Lon Kruger still coaching there?

Of course its difficult, its a shortcut... if it was easy it'd just be "the way."

Fanhouse

Not a big fan of that Fanhouse article.

They took a quote from Tru and used it out of context to make Jasper seem like a baby. I think we can all agree he was a tough kid.

Feh ...

... I don’t think that was the author’s intention. But you are absolutely right, that quote was a bit out of context.

Jasper was a tough kid and I hate to see him go.

well

I don’t care much where he goes (unless it would have been to a rival).
I would have liked him a lot more if he had stayed her, not that he wasn’t free to leave.

Wish Him Luck

Most UK transfers don’t do better elsewhere. Some do. We’ll C if he does or not.

"Do better"

I’m worried that we may never know. UNLV won’t be on ESPN for us to watch, and Jasper’s special brand of contribution doesn’t show up in a box score.

I try to picture the excitement level of the average UNLV fan who sees they are getting a Kentucky transfer: “He averages 4 points a game? He’s coming off a knee injury? **. Why is it anytime we get a big school transfer, we get the gimps?”

We all know that Jasper was probably the biggest factor in Kentucky’s turnaround last year… but they won’t. And I think it highly likely that we probably won’t hear much about DJ after he disappears into the desert. (Unless he pops up as an extra on CSI.)

Of course its difficult, its a shortcut... if it was easy it'd just be "the way."

UNLV

They beat Wisconsin in 2007 NCAA tourney. I saw the game here in Chicago.

UNLV and Kruger are a good team and coach. Jasper will have a good opportunity to play PG there.
