OPEN SHOT: TGIF quickies
I have a busy early morning today, so I don't think I'll get around to updating the blog until sometime this afternoon. Until then, I just have a few quick things:
- Josh Harrellson is reportedly released from Western Illinois. Jody Demling has that, and a lot more.
- There are many great memorials and retrospectives about Bill Keightley out this morning, too many for me to do justice to in this quickie. Check out the usual sites and I'll have more links and stuff on this story later.
- For the Gridiron Felines, the wide receiver spot is wide open.
- Niya Butts, an assistant to UK women's basketball coach Matthew Mitchell, gets the head job at Arizona.
- Bill Self's attorney says, "Never say never."
- John Cohen, the UK baseball coach, is waffling on rumors he may take over for his mentor and coach at Mississippi State. Say it ain't so, John!
- More on the Scotty Hopson aftermath.
- The Dagger has more on the Gillispie-as-OSU-target story.
That's all, folks. Make yourself heard below, I'll be back this afternoon.

Bill Self's "attorney" sure talks like an agent. Perhaps he thinks calling himself his attorney carries a less negative connotation than being his agent. Whatever he is, it sure reads as if Self may be interested. I have to admit, I was unaware that Self played and coached at OSU (I believe Leonard Hamilton was the Cowboys head coach during Self's tenure there). If he isn't interested he needs to fire his attorney/agent for leaving the door so wide open for the possiblity that he could leave KU.
Seth Davis once again re-proves the fact that he is a world class moron who is lucky to have any job, much less a cushy position where accountability is a foreign concept.
Rick Pitino--All of the chatter over the Internet(as well as John Clay's column) about UK fans easing up on Pitino has made me feel very conflicted. Is it time to let it go? Has time healed all wounds? Can I make myself think like Bill Keightley? Does Pitino's kind words about Keightley soften me to Rick's traitorous decision to coach the sworn enemy?
I just don't know. Keightley was able to look beyond Rick's employer because he had a very close, personal relationship with him. I had no such relationship. Plus, Keightley was a much better person than I have ever even thought about being.
I don't really hate Pitino anyway, I just hope he loses every game he coaches by 50 points. I guess if that makes me a bad person, or a grudge holder, then so be it.
This Final Four should be entertaining as hell. Well, as entertaining as a Final Four can be that doesn't include UK.
