Really I have no idea, just a suggestion.

What would you suggest?
I'd kill for a great armwrestling competition. I can just see Billy Clyde turning his trucker hat backwards just before he takes Pearl "Over The Top."
My solution is simple...
True, but it made Selig look like an idiot.
Calathes's Mama
jokes with Calathes for PP would be like shootin fish in a barrel.
Congrats to BCG!!

ALL SEC first team
I do not understand Lucas being all-sec first team frosh; to me he was a very irrelevant player and very poor on defense.
PP and Calathes sharing FOY made sense as did the shared coaches of the year; all in all it looks like the SEC got it right.
Is there a most improved player award? Can you say Perry Stevenson? I once posted I hope he makes me eat my words that he was only posting #s due to PP; I am choking on those words. His monster game against Florida proved he belongs and is capable of being a star.
I do believe PP was instrumental in Perry's improved play. However, he is doing it on his own now. More importantly, Perry.. and I can't believe I am going to type this.. Perry is going to make PP a better player next year.

Another Possible UK Recruit (From ESPN Scouts)
Clark Stepp, PG
Pippa Passes, KY
Class: 2008
June Buchanan School
Position Rank: 156
Clark Stepp attends UK-UF game
Senior guard Clark Stepp went on an official visit to Kentucky on Sunday to watch the Wildcats take on Florida, the Louisville Courier-Journal reports. The 6-foot-4 Stepp recently became the first player in state history to surpass 3,000 points and 1,000 assists in his career. Other schools interested in the Kentucky native are Mississippi State, Western Kentucky, Eastern Kentucky, and Morehead State.

Clark Stepp
Ervin Stepp (his uncle) averaged over 50 points a game one season. His uncles Ervin and Jimm went on to play at EKU where is was actually Jimm that shined more (I believe Jimm Stepp was in the top 5 in free throw % as a senior at EKU; obscure but cool for him). Ervin was recruited by Joe B. but when he had knee troubles UK backed off.

National CoY
Apparently, just because you aren't even recognized as the best coach in your conference doesn't mean that you can't be national coach of the year. Pearl, Calipari, Painter from Purdue, and the coach of Drake are the four finalists for National Coach of the Year.
Makes me want to puke.

My Pick
Pearl v. Gillispie
NO comparison between the two. One is a Barnum & Bailey reject who will never see a FF, except from the stands.
The other is a driven, born for the job, Hall of Famer in waiting.
UT fans are proving once again they should stick to football, The Midget Chesney, and recruiting felons for their pigskin team.
Yeah ...
That is too bad for the kid. With that said, we surely can't be talking about more than a couple of hundred dollars here, which looks like petty theft to me. He isn't likely to do any jail time unless he has a record, and if he does, it wouldn't be more than a few months, I would think.
But what is a bit strange is that there was an indictment issued by a grand jury. Usually, something like that would be investigated by the police and Carter arrested on an information rather than an indictment. The fact that there is an indictment makes this look a bit more sinister than the facts seem to support, prima facia.
Theft by deception at $300 or less is a class A misdemeanor. Above that, it is a class D felony.

Bilas and crap opinions
We see things differently even when looking at the same things, we see different things and we all have opinions.
Just a little support for the Bilas bias I have. One only has to google the topic and the pages roll.
(I listed insider comments that were on google).
http://insider.espn.go.com/espn/blog/index?entryID=3281220&searchName=bilas_jay

Even at Syracuse: http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=185&f=2825&t=2209692&sto=pagestart#s=185&f=2825&t =2209692
Anyway. Opinions are important and when presented in civil ways (maybe hate was over the line) they should be tolerated. I don't want to speak for others but crap certainly was an unexpected word. I did not come back and disagree with the positive Bilas opinions offered in disagreement with my view. I just assumed those persons felt differently, thought differently or saw different comments.
As I said I love this page.
Well ...
I don't love Bilas, but I do think he is pretty fair overall. He was just wrong about Kentucky, and from what I see, he still is.
As for Syracuse fans, who can really blame them for thinking they were robbed? They are fans. If UK had not made it, we would be saying very much the same thing in reverse.
My opinion is that Kentucky deserved to get in based on their last 12 games, and others didn't for the same reason. Bilas and others think the last game argument is bogus and shouldn't be considered. I disagree, and the committee does, too. And in the end, what the committee thinks is import is what is important, because they get to make the call. You, me, Bilas and all the Syracuse fans in the country have exactly the same input into the committee's decisions.
Zero.
Pitino
Not that I like Ricky P all that much anymore but my outrage at the non call is now a little more validated.
Heh ...

Besides, if one possesses sight, it is obvious a foul was committed. Anyone who states otherwise looks a bit foolish.
So Rick saying a foul was committed is nothing more than him stating the obvious.
But as you note, him even speaking about it makes one feel a bit better about him. Well....maybe not:)

I really can't stand Mr. Bliss. Really. That guy is approaching Laettner status with me.
Horn to USC
Looks like our alma mater just became a stepping stone again:

Yeah ...
Oh well. It is one heck of a jump from $150K/yr to $750K/yr.
If that is as competitive as Western can be salary-wise, I suppose they should just maintain a long list of promising young assistant coaches.
:-)
Nothings official yet, but...
I certainly thought he would stick around a bit longer, but I suppose I give him too much credit.
This is a lateral move at best, except for the compensation.
Like Willard and Felton before him he had a terrific opportunity to build a great program in BG, but money seems to blind even the most intelligent of us.
Also...
The 150k is Horn's base, not his total compensation package.
Shows what I know
Why would Travis Ford leave UMass for Providence? Building a consistent winner at UMass is much easier than going to a bottom 4 Big East school. Of course, building a power at Providence carries with it a huge payoff as evidenced by our friend Mr. Pitino. But at the same time it seems I remember one John Calipari building a pretty good reputation at UMass. Speaking of Calipari, I read yesterday, somewhere, that Calipari may have an interest in coaching the Knicks. He is good friends with newly appointed GM Donnie Walsh. Talk about your yardstick for intelligence.
I was surprised that Ford took his name out of the running for the LSU job. He must have a very good reason, but I sure don't know what it could be.
The coaching carousel is certainly fun to monitor. As long as Clyde isn't involved.
Johnson...
Bennet Jr. must really love Wash St., that's two better (higher profile) jobs he has said no thanks to in indiana and lsu to remain in the pacific northwest.
He's a lumber jack at heart...
As long as he stays away from the southeast, and continues to give UCLA a run for their money, he's okay in my book....plus he's a great singer.
Scary, troubling, ahh hell obsessive compulsive...

Top 25 Active Coaches?
by FortyYearCatFan on Apr 10, 2008 6:49 AM EDT reply actions
Top Active Coaches
Roy Williams as the "Top Active Coach" is laughable. He can certainly recruit, which is a part of coaching, but his game coaching isn't the greatest in the world, in my opinion. With the talent he has accumulated, especially at KU, he should hve more FF's and National Titles.
Although, I do appreciate the Kansas choke job in '98 which opened the door for UK to win #7.
My opinion:
Tubby is too low, Rick is about right....15 years ago, Dixon is too low, Few too low, Gillispie too low, Donovan too high. Olson too high.
Where's Stallings? Stansbury is awfully good. Mike Andersen at Missouri is a very good coach(formerly of UAB), no Tony Bennett?
One could debate the list, and who should be on or off, and their placement, for days.
Thanks for the link.
I'd Put K Ahead Of Roy
Few and Gillsipie have to win NCAA games to move up. Both have so-so NCAA tourney numbers so far.
Olson definitely slipping as he nears retirement. Pitino somewhat but not like Lute has (slipped).
Tubby in 10 to 15 range is about right. He's #12 among active coaches in W-L (%) record and #11 in W-L (%) record in NCAA tourney games.
