Marlon Brown

Matt Jones is reporting that the Gridiron Cats are recruiting a kid named Marlon Brown. Apparently, he's a top flight wide receiver who also fancies himself a basketball player. So much so, in fact, that he's asking any school that wants his football services to let him play roundball as well. According to Matt, Coach G is open to that, which prompts the question, "Can this kid hoop?" Anyone seen him or know anything about him? If he's a player, I'm all for bringing in another body without losing a b-ball scholly. So enlighten me. Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

I knew about this. It has been around a while, and Brown is a serious 2-sport athlete who could help us in basketball. It would be a real coup if we could get him, but I wouldn't get my hopes up -- our comp is really tough, and he is more likely to wind up being paid as a football player than on the hardwood.

His list of schools is miles long (15 at least), and includes such names as Notre Dame, Florida, Ohio State, Tennessee, and USC just to name a few, all of whom have good basketball programs and better football programs than Kentucky.
