Jon Hood Looks really good
Got online to watch Jon Hood play a game against Marshall Co. at Wazoosports…
Man, talk about a kid that can create his one shots, hit 3’s in rhythm, dibble the ball with both hands, play tight defense and hit nothing but the net when shooting free throws…
All of this while having a chaser on him..!
I don’t think his team will win 25+ games because Hood does not have much help…
This is the first time I’ve watched a complete game of Hood, and I know that 1 game does not give a good barometer of a player, but my goodness, this kid has talent…
At 6’7, he reminds me a lot of, dare I say it, Rex Chapman…
I think, no, I'm sure of it, he could help this team NOW...
He'll need to bulk up a bit, but everything else is there...
In my opinion...

"He can...dibble the ball with both hands"
Hey, I can do that too…my problem is I have to use both hands at the same time:)!!
I was at Hoop Fest
I didn’t get to go to the session when Hood was playing, but I talked to a few people who said he looked amazing, and that we could use him right now. I did see Dakotah Euton’s team play. I’m not into slamming high school kids in a public forum, and I certainly am not going to pretend to know more about talent scouting than the UK staff, so I’ll just say…maybe he was having an off night?? He certainly didn’t stick out to me as even the best top two or three players on his own team—but again, what do I know! They must see something special in him, and at any rate, I’m glad I got to see a future Wildcat in action.
Crazily enough, Rick Pitino came to the final game Saturday night and he and his people sat RIGHT IN FRONT of my husband and me—we couldn’t believe it. Of course there was a crush of people surrounding the area after that, lots of autograph seekers and picture-takers (I wasn’t one of either obviously—I’m sure his ego doesn’t need any more stroking!) I couldn’t stop cracking up when someone had him sign their Celtics jersey (a UK fan making a subtle dig?). I was just wishing I was wearing some Hilltopper apparel.

I was there too......
Hood played very well. He is very quick off the bounce. Much quicker than I had expected.
He was face-guarded the entire game, with the defender emitting a loud yell every two seconds. Double and triple-teamed when he had the ball, and playing against the host team. He had no help. Sometimes when he popped open off of a screen, they passed the ball down into the corner, instead or reversing the ball back to him.
He had to create almost everything. He forced several shots, but made quite a few too. They really didn’t have a choice.
I was very impressed. He played a good all-around game. Un-officially, I had him with 31pts. 7rb 3bl and 2st. Official results may vary.
A very good HoopFest. Several very good teams were there. I recommend that anyone that can make it to S. Laurel in January to that edition, do it. Several of the same national powerhouses will be there. I made it to all 17 games here at Marshall County, and I’ve been to five consecutive events. Steve Woodward and Wazoosports.com do a great job.
Jon Hood
Just listened to Coach’s call-in show and one of the callers was asking if Hood would be comparable to Patrick Sparks or Chapman. Coach replied that Jon Hood will be Jon Hood when he plays at UK next season.
Another thing…he says that Orton’s progress from surgery is going well…has lost 16 pounds, but he fully expects him to be ready when he arrives next summer.
