UNC vs Mich. State: Not as big a draw
The NFL venue was configured for about 70,000 seats and perhaps one-third of them were filled with fans, creating a scene that was as lackluster as the game. The announced attendance was 25,267.
I believe that UK vs Mich State drew 78,129 ..?? Could someone help me on that.. we know who the draw is is college Basketball....
We have been, are and always will be the top draw in college hoops...

Saw that this morning on ESPN
And if I remember correctly, neither UK or MSU was ranked as highly as these teams were last night.
Of course its difficult, its a shortcut... if it was easy it'd just be "the way."

There is no doubt UNC does not travel like UK
but the UK/MSU game was on a Saturday and not a Wednesdat night. That had to keep a lot of fans away. Nevertheless the numbers were definitely lower than they expected.

I see your point, but...
if the UK/MSU game had also been on a wednesday, you’d still have WAY more than 25,000 fans there.
i’d be willing to bet there would have been at least 25,000 UK fans alone!

yea, maybe...
but, you would think that a #1 ranked team coming in to play a #12 ranked team would draw more then what amounted to be a typical sellout at Rupp, no matter what day of the week……
Steelers fan 1st! UK is my 2nd love.

Wikipedia says
78,129 on hand for the original Basketbowl. Take that for what it’s worth.

UNC
Someone may beat them but it will be an upset if they do.

UNC ...
… is very tough. No doubt the best team in the land. I was a bit skeptical, but I have only seen one team play well enough in a stretch to beat them, and I dare not mention their name here. It will take a talented team hitting on all cylinders to beat them this year.

I saw a lot of empty seats
on the highlights. NO ONE travels like UK does. We even have the largest contingent of media for games. It’s a bitch trying to get media passes to the UK – Arkansas games at Bud Walton. I usually have to show my credentials at the last minute and tell them I’m with the KATV crew AND drop a few names just to get in the door. Any other game and I could just waltz in without a hitch. Best fans around! We should all pat ourselves on the back a couple o times. ;)
UNC is one of the toughest teams I’ve seen so far. I’ve watched four of their games all the way through and ol’ Roy has got them purring along like a finely tuned engine. I would still like to see UK play them in the tourney.

I can attest ...
… to the fact that nobody travels like ’Cat fans. In Vegas, man, it was a sea of blue (pun intended).
I would love to get a second crack at the Tar Heels — in the Final Four! :-)

Check Dec 74 And Mar 75
It’s happened before. UK was clobbered by IU the first time but beat the Hoosiers the second time.

UMass
I think we lost to Marcus Camby and UMass in ’95 and beat them in March of ’96.

True But
Both of those games were close. Both teams evenly matched.
The 75 IU team was > than UK.
