Kentucky at Tennessee: Open Game Thread

Kentucky Wildcats at Tennessee Volunteers, Nov 29, 2008 6:30 PM EST

Btn_football_medium Btn_chat_medium

Due to the short amount of time I have and the large amount of stuff I have to do, this one will be short and sweet.

The 'Cats need this game for many reasons, not the least of which is the pride of snapping a 23 game losing streak to a team that was once considered our major rival in football.  It's hard to say that is true now given the dominance that UT has displayed over Kentucky for the past 2+ decades, but it would be wonderful if we could call this a rivalry again sometime.

I will be posting in this thread and watching the game (hopefully) down at the sports book.  Enjoy the game and get ready for yet another UK game, this time in roundball, tonight at 10:30 PM EST against the West Virginia University Mountaineers.

Go, 'Cats!

by Thomas Hunt Morgan on Nov 29, 2008 9:19 PM EST up reply actions

So sad

I know what the original preseason expectations were, but it is so hard/sad to sit and watch this game when we were 4-1 at one time and were counting on wins against Vandy (a bad and overranked team) and UT (just a bad team that is handing us our lunch). Say what you want, but when you only win 2 out of your last 8 games, the season is a disappointment.

Threads

By the way Tru, after viewing the threads on both your site and KSR, there is no comparison. Here there is discussion and over there is a lot of name calling and nothing substantive. Good job on running a qualinty thread and site.

I like Matt Jone's site...

In that you are correct.

I read the site everyday but if I go into the comments and read those I come away feeling dirty. Nothing positive is ever offered there. I read the comments today from the game last night and came out feeling sick.

by Thomas Hunt Morgan on Nov 29, 2008 9:24 PM EST up reply actions

The futility of this season...

lies almost completely with the offense. Dropped passes, inefficient execution, and the inability to put any points on the board at all means that we are not a good football team. I only wish we had last years offense paired with the defense this year. Now that would have been a football team. And that is the goal that Rich and company must have. We have to put good players on both sides of the ball to compete in the SEC and we are not there yet.
