Kentucky at Tennessee: Open Game Thread
Kentucky Wildcats at Tennessee Volunteers, Nov 29, 2008 6:30 PM EST
Due to the short amount of time I have and the large amount of stuff I have to do, this one will be short and sweet.
The 'Cats need this game for many reasons, not the least of which is the pride of snapping a 23 game losing streak to a team that was once considered our major rival in football. It's hard to say that is true now given the dominance that UT has displayed over Kentucky for the past 2+ decades, but it would be wonderful if we could call this a rivalry again sometime.
I will be posting in this thread and watching the game (hopefully) down at the sports book. Enjoy the game and get ready for yet another UK game, this time in roundball, tonight at 10:30 PM EST against the West Virginia University Mountaineers.
Go, 'Cats!

Nice Sack!
true blue living in a sea of orange
that's actually true.
If UK never throws, they have a real chance. UT’s strength is pass D.

UK just needs to keep trying to run the ball ...
… and actually gaining positive yardage would be good too!

Yeah
I think the FL game totally wrecked our confidence, and it’s been a struggle ever since.

… he will never beat them… Ridiculous…

True.
Lots of game to go. It’s not like UT is Texas Tech, where another 21 points can come from nowhere.
by David Hooper on Nov 29, 2008 8:39 PM EST up reply actions
No, it's not
But we need to start making some progress. Time’s a-tickin’. . .
C! A! T! S! CATS! CATS! CATS!
Yep.
You have to think UT’s offense is bad enough to have a couple of TOs.

We are what we (apparently) are
A 6-6 football team. Not terrible. Not good. Mediocre.

Not if we can hold to a FG.
We’d “just” be down two TDs then.

well, we may be going to a bowl....
…but we sure don’t deserve to go… 6-6, 2-6 and no direction AT ALL!
Will UK fans travel this year..??? I know I’m staying home….

The best part about being a bowl team
Is that we get the extra practice. I think that helps the program long term.

Ah, okay...
Just wondering. I went to Vegas earlier this year. Saw the basketball championship game at the book in the Hilton. That was a fun experience. I won some money off that game, haha.

Scary thought
You guys realize that we have to win whatever bowl game we go to in order to finish above .500.

I'm disapponted too.
However, my August expectations for this team 6-6 record and a bowl, will likely come to fruition. Not too bad for a “rebuilding” year

So sad
I know what the original preseason expectations were, but it is so hard/sad to sit and watch this game when we were 4-1 at one time and were counting on wins against Vandy (a bad and overranked team) and UT (just a bad team that is handing us our lunch). Say what you want, but when you only win 2 out of your last 8 games, the season is a disappointment.
Yes, the lack of improvement throughout the season,
not the W-L record is most disappointing.

Threads
By the way Tru, after viewing the threads on both your site and KSR, there is no comparison. Here there is discussion and over there is a lot of name calling and nothing substantive. Good job on running a qualinty thread and site.
I like Matt Jone's site...
…but he doesn’t attempt to moderate the comments there at all (probably doesn’t have the time to). It’s a pretty pathetic community of posters, honestly.
by BBallSophist on Nov 29, 2008 9:22 PM EST up reply actions
In that you are correct.
I read the site everyday but if I go into the comments and read those I come away feeling dirty. Nothing positive is ever offered there. I read the comments today from the game last night and came out feeling sick.

I have to agree
More than anything that happens on the field or court, I’m always more put out by some of the behavior of our own fans.
Thank you ...

Like some of the KSR posts tend to.

The futility of this season...
lies almost completely with the offense. Dropped passes, inefficient execution, and the inability to put any points on the board at all means that we are not a good football team. I only wish we had last years offense paired with the defense this year. Now that would have been a football team. And that is the goal that Rich and company must have. We have to put good players on both sides of the ball to compete in the SEC and we are not there yet.

I'm out
Going to the arena now. Thanks to all.

Maybe Phil Fulmer can find another coaching job in the SEC
so UK can finally win one against him or maybe we’ll go 16-0 vs. Lane Kiffin’s Vols.
