This interview is a must-hear. I found it very encouraging.

“I’d rather be known as an arrogant winner than a guy who handles losing well”

Ha! I literally chuckled out loud at my desk.

I won’t lie, I’m frustrated with the coaching staff as a whole for what I’ve viewed as a lack of preparation in these first two games… but I do respect Coach Gillispie’s honesty when he’s interviewed. It was a decent piece and some good questions from Katz.

Of course its difficult, its a shortcut... if it was easy it'd just be "the way."

He's certainly saying all the right things

And that’s encouraging, but now we’ll see if that translates to the court. Or whatever.

Pat

According to KSR Pat just cut his fro off.

Tru, when will you have a two page post on the implications of this on the CAT’s pyche up?

Ha!

Now if we could just trim a few inches of length and a couple more of width off the uniform shorts, we’d be in good shape!

Of course its difficult, its a shortcut... if it was easy it'd just be "the way."

Skirts

I think they were going for skirts when they designed those shorts.

Cited from Interview

“that’s going to happen this year, it happened last year. We’re a fundamentally based team, we’re a defensive (rebounding) based team and we struggle offensively at the start of the year. We probably needed to make some changes in our approach, we need to be better offensively. If we know those problems exist and you have to change a little bit. We have changed a little bit, we will continue to change as we go.”

Did we hear this in August from Brooks? Scary

thanks for bringing this interview to our attention

The plan is to trust Billy. I tend to agree with Chirop1 about feeling frustration over what appears to be lack of preparedness. But if Billy is optimistic, then I will be optimistic, despite the fact that I don’t see how you can run a team w/o a good point guard, or how you can make one fast enough from what looks to me like a talented but very ‘fresh’ freshman.

Gillispie

He’s not the savior (yet). He’s not Rupp or Pitino (yet).

He’s a good, young coach with very good potential. He’s a very good recruiter.

All of that is great. What needs to do is win 3 out of every 4 games at UK, 7 out of every 10 NCAA games, SEC titles and SECT championships every 2 years, and NCAA title every 10 years.

Those are the measurements by which UK coaches are judged. Eddie Sutton won 800+ games in his career and was very successful at Creighton, Arkansas, and Oklahoma State. But he was a failure at Kentucky becuase he didn’t meet UK standards.
