Where is everyone???
We have a BIG game today and I, for one, am too excited to focus (fully) on work! I am ready for GAMETIME!!! I thought I would open up a fanpost in case there are others out there -like me- ready to get fired up about tonight's game!!!! This can be our own little "war room!"
Funny story - A Louisville fan stopped by my office today and said that he heard the federal government was working on a "bail-out" plan for Kentucky's basketball team. I have to admit, I DID think that was pretty witty, being easliy baited as I am, I responded with, "Yeah, just wait until we knock off number one tonight!"
(BTW, this is my first fanpost, too!) GO CATS!!!!!!!!

I was wondering the same thing.......
The next 3.25 hours will crawl by. It will be easier after I get away from this desk. In the meantime, it’s killing me!
I had a guy come by my desk yesterday (an Illinios fan-like he doesn’t have problems), and asked where he could get VMI tickets. My wife and I spent 3 days in the Lexington, VA area last spring, so I was able to tell him to go to Cameron Hall. We drove through the campus so many times, I was able to give a tour.
Go Big Blue!

Can't find a thing....
except that he played 21 minutes Saturday, on that sprained ankle.

Ya'll have it easy
I have to go to work in an hour, and resist the urge all night to check out the score. I hate knowing the score before I get to watch it on TIVO. Media blackout starts in 5 hours.

I'm rolling out right now.
Once I hit post I’m shutting down and going home. Pick the kids up from school, make dinner (NY strips), do some dishes, help with homework, and then plop down in front of the TV where I will hoot and holler as if I’m in the stadium itself. Occasionally I’ll scare the dog, my kids, my wife, anyone in a 3 block radius with my outbursts or thunderous hand claps.
I’m really looking forward to the game. It’ll be the first time this season I get to SEE them play, outside of five seconds of VMI highlights on ESPN the other night. Gonna be another game in the 90’s.

Hey Tink
I have a feeling you are even cuter in real lfe than your avatar. What a BBN fan you are! Some of your comments are really funny.
I am at home anxiously awaiting the game and hoping for a win at UNC. Also trying to deal with my trusty Dell pc which I think has gone dead after 6 years, though I do have a slave drive in that thing. I am using another pc I have at home…always need a backup. Whew!
I want a win so badly tonight I can taste it. Go Cats! Make us proud!

I was taught to be quiet while watching games
I can’t handle hooting and hollering while a game is on. Part of the reason I hate watching sports in public places like bars, hotels, etc.
Of course its difficult, its a shortcut... if it was easy it'd just be "the way."
by chirop1 on Nov 18, 2008 2:29 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
Yep
Dad always liked to be able to hear what Cawood was saying. If my brother and I were talking or getting rowdy during a game, he would shush us with a “Quiet boys.” That has carried over into my game watching habits of today. Not quite as extreme.
Dad regrets that now, but we definitely give him hell for it. Ha!
And no… when I’m actually at a game, I do get up out of the seats and cheer as appropriate.
Of course its difficult, its a shortcut... if it was easy it'd just be "the way."

I'll take the seat next to you....
Kentucky girl if I may….I scare my wife when the CATS are playing. I end up watching it alone in the living room. I’ve got my blue gear on, the TV blaring, and I don’t stay seated much. I hate to watch games at Rupp when the cameras are always on the “old fogeys”, yawning, and acting like they’d rather be playing bingo. These seats should be given to the true fans, and the students. Move them to the rafters baby, and I’ll take my seat in the front row with Kentucky girl.

I have to officiate, sans whistle of course....
I yell out traveling, double dribbles, hand checks, and ALL block/charge calls.
AND, I tell the guys when to feed the post!
I rarely eat during the game, too distracting, plus the choking hazard.
Can’t watch in a public place. I might miss something.
The worst thing about the late games, is the time it takes to unwind enough to go to bed.
It’s worse when I’m actually at the game. That opportunity doesn’t come along too often.
But the four hour drive home helps.

You may find this amusing...
I really get into the UK & Steelers games… And I’ll admit, I get mad as heck when things aren’t going right. My wife loves watching the games with me, but does not like the raw emotion I sometimes display. Being married to me the last 16 years, she has learned a very important lesson. That is, I’m a very friendly drunk… So before any BIG game, (and this is one), she will walk in the door tonight with a 5th of Knob Creek and say, “sweetheart, get to drinkin’”.. lol
Gotta’ love a very understanding spouse..!
Steelers fan 1st! UK is my 2nd love.

Wine is my beverage of choice!
I am glad this is a late game – both kids are in bed by tip-off! The downside ofcourse is the aforementioned wind down time and the possible hang-over for work in the morning – but its all worth it for the WIN!

Well it's 3:20pm....
And I can’t wait ‘til we beat the Tar out of UNC 97 – 86….Hey kentucky girl, go ahead and call in sick tomorrow, because you’re not sleeping tonight. CATS CATS CATS! Go stock up on the wine as well, because tonight will be a big blue party! Remember, the past tense of Carolina Blue, is Carolina Blows!

Sounds like a plan!
I am already kind of planning on heading in a little late tomorrow morning. I’m for real all worked up! My hands are sweaty, i’m about to jump out of my skin. I will have to start on the wine immediately to even chill out enough to make it to tip-off!!!! Will there be a live thread tonight? If so, I plan on bringing my laptop home with me for sure!

Lesson learned..hopefully
If memory serves me, it was not Hansbrough that killed us last year. Danny Green was the primary gunman on the grassy nole. Crawford could not defend the 6-7 Green. Maybe, Harris, Miller, or Liggins will do a better job. Any thoughts?
by champcat24 on Nov 18, 2008 4:08 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
Harris
Of those options mentioned, I would say Harris is our strongest defender.
by kentuckygirl0724 on Nov 18, 2008 4:14 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Don't forget Ellington...
Somebody has to guard him too. Green was the X factor last year. Everyone else was contained. We’ve got the long athletic guys this year to guard them both. Harris is the most experienced defender, and could guard either one. Somebody else will have to step up, and get down on D!
by racercat98 on Nov 18, 2008 4:20 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
I'm with you girl...
I think Harris can shut him down, plus this frees up Liggins or Miller to concentrate more on “O”….Damn, I need some red wine girl, lol! I can’t wait! Let’s get it on! UK 91 – UNC 82! I think Perry Stevenson will be Psycho “P” tonight. I have a feeling! Jodie will have 30+, and Psycho “P” will have a double double……

Time to wrap it up.....
I always wear a UK shirt on gameday (Wildcat tie on Sunday SECT & NCAA games), but it’s time to go home and change to my “lucky” shirt, with the old style cat tongue.
GO CATS!!!!!

KY apparell
Gamedays that fall on workdays for me always involve a UK tie. I have four different ones, so even if we fit in two bball games and a football game… I can always keep a little different flair!

I’ll be opening up the open thread around 8:00 instead of 8:30 tonight. We need to get stoked.

kentuckygirl, your enthusiasm
is catching—and also adorable : ) I was actually kind of half-dreading the game all day today before I read this (b/c oh god, what if this gets ugly, and it totally could, it will be so embarrasing to get blown out right now and my fragile ego can’t take it after Friday…) but now after reading your words of wisdom, I’m all antsy for tipoff—the good kind of antsy, the pre-big-UK-basketball game kind of antsy. There’s no use being afraid of losing, I guess—we are Kentucky!! It’s basketball season in the bluegrass, what am I bellyachin’ about? Bring it on, I’m ready!!!!! Come on, let’s GO CATS!!!!!
I’m not as good at the super-enthusiasm as she is, but I’m working on it! Twenty minutes to tipoff…
