The Harassment of Coach G by the NABC
Yet again, the NABC has gone after our Coach because he set the date for Big Blue Madness a week earlier, all within NCAA guidelines.
I think the other coaches are just po'd that our Coach was more ingenious than they.

Sad
I don’t understand why the NABC has to get involved. Its an NCAA issue. If they thought it was a big deal… then they would address it. It was my understanding that Gillispie even called the NCAA to check on the legality of holding Big Blue Madness then.
Of course its difficult, its a shortcut... if it was easy it'd just be "the way."
I Think MM Should Be October 15th
For everybody.

Why?
Seriously, why should it be? What compelling reason or argument is there to have MM on one particular day? Why not anytime in a range of days between September 15th and October 15th?
It would help the coaches, it would not impact the players and it gives the schools flexibility. We don’t mandate college football kick off on any certain day, all at once, or have the spring game on the same weekend. Why should college basketball be so constrained?

Agree
I agree completely! What difference does it make?

Oct 15th
First day of practice. Why not have MM on the first day of practice?

Asked (And Answered)
October 15th was and still is the first day of basketball practice.
MM is an event related to the first basketball practice.
Ergo October 15th = MM.

In other words ...
… you are defending the NABC’s position based on the “not invented here” argument. Not very convincing.

Midnight Madness should
be anytime the University wants to hold it. It doesn’t affect true practices and is just a way for the fans to get to see the team. It doesn’t mean anything except to the fans and they should be able to attend it whenever they want.
See ...
… I never have seen BBM as a practice. It clearly isn’t it’s just a media event, an event for the fans. There is no “practice” going on. We don’t do dunk contests and three point shoot-outs in practice. The only thing BBM has in common with some, but probably very few practices is a scrimmage.
Calling BBM a “practice” is like calling the Kentucky Derby a workout. Just doesn’t fit.

Which is clearly why we never see them in games anymore! I say more practices should be like BBM!!!!
