So who are we anyway?
We all know that ASoB is like a drug we can't live without. We all have a unified goal of seeing UK win. Every game. ALWAYS!
As a marketing and pr person I found it interesting to see some recent peaks into who Tru was and then GP let us in a bit. It made me ask that very interesting question "Who are we?"
UK is a national brand. While many teams win, win NCs and sometimes 2 in a row (wink to GP ;-), very few are national brands. This is why we are from so many places and our posts show many generations.
So for the fun of it, tell us BBN, who are you?
I'll go: 38, owner of a branding and design firm in Lexington.

Self employed ...
Occasional database analyst, although I am trying to avoid doing that much more. Too time consuming, doesn't pay enough. :-)
Oh, yeah. Part-time blogger. That doesn't pay at all, but I love doing it.

Again
I am a 24 year old Financial Services Officer at a credit union in Lexington KY. I graduated from UK in 05 with a degree in Education and decided being a Teacher was not the life for me so I kind of fell into banking.
I am really interested in the Division of Fire/Emergency Services here in lex though and am in the process of obtaining my EMT lisence and attempting to join the LFUCGFD.

EMT huh...
Now that he is getting a little time under his belt he does get to "work" the UK games and a ton of music shows at Rupp.
Dealing with dead people but Working some UK games and Hanna Mont...oh never mind...

Editorial Director
I used to work for the editorial team at Major League Baseball, but moved to a different wing of the company for better hours, as I have an 8-month-old son, Elias Rex.
But I consider Lexington my hometown, as I went to 5th-12th grades there, as well as University.

GP checks in...
My investments lean toward real estate which naturally means I'm getting hammered right now. I consult more or less full time for a company that's in the process of starting a nationwide franchise and I'm also getting a Western North Carolina log home distributorship off the ground with some of my friends formerly in the banking world.
The blogging thing is a sickness. I make more money blogging than about 99% of the rest of the sports blogging population, which is to say I make slightly more than zero. I blog for AOL's FanHouse and of course for my own site. The money's good for occasional (inexpensive) lunches and once in awhile I treat myself to an ice cream cone. Life is good!
I live in Orlando, FL and it's maybe a 1.5 hour drive to watch my Gators beat the 'Cats in the O-Dome, er, play basketball and football.

Know anyone wanting to buy another firm?
I do love what I do but that musicians life is an evil bitch. I break free and she pulls me back.
Spend you life trying to get a contract then quit and join the real world, then those same folks become clients and now are open to your music and interested in contracts. But I have a job. A great one.
Oh, and I have good old stories about rocking and rolling with JL if you buy me a few drinks.

Spent some time ...
Nice place, but I haven't been to Florida since 1982. I imagine a lot has changed. Last time I was there, Epcott Center wasn't even complete. Universal Studios wasn't even a glimmer in Disney's eye.
Fun times.

So who are we, anyway?
"Dear Mr. Vernon, we accept the fact that we had to sacrifice a whole Saturday in detention for whatever it was we did wrong. What we did WAS wrong, but we think you're crazy to make us write an essay telling you who we think we are. You see us as you want to see us... In the simplest terms and the most convenient definitions. But what we found out is that each one of us is a brain...
Andrew Clark: ...and an athlete...
Allison Reynolds: ...and a basket case...
Claire Standish: ...a princess...
John Bender: ...and a criminal...
Brian Johnson: Does that answer your question?... Sincerely yours, the Breakfast Club."

cue the jukebox playing "In Your Eyes"
It is interesting reading a bit more about the fellow fans here. It is a rather young and pretty well-educated group, apparently! I feel like an old-timer at 30...and pretty impoverished, too...You guys may not know this--it was a shock to me--but degrees in English Lit don't exactly cause Fortune 500 companies to throw money at you in the "real world" : ) I'm a grad of Western Kentucky in 99, and got a masters from UK in 01, since, as I learned, bachelor's in English prepare you for cocktail waitressing, and not much else.
I live in Nashville, where my friends and co-workers actually think it is weird to take vacation days so you can catch the first two days of the NCAA tourney in their entirety, or to sit in one's car on lunch break to listen to the radio broadcast when work actually expects you to be there when UK is playing. Besides UK hoops, I'm obsessive about college basketball in general, as well as reading, following politics, and fashion. I'm married to Louisville fan...my previous boyfriend liked Indiana, so obviously another of my personal traits is to have horrible taste in dudes : )

What a learned group we have here.
I am currently in the research phase of a project involving Wilbur Hackett and the other first black football players in the SEC. (Nat Northington, Greg Page, and Houston Hogg) Who, by the way, all attended UK. The old timers in the group may remember Hackett. He is the player who is most responsible for integrating football in the SEC.
I also, at the age of 42, am raising my two young daughters ages 4 years and 10 months.
Challenging, exhausting, and joyful all at the same time.

"The details.....
On a serious note...I'm 33, a warehouse supervisor were I am in charge of tracking and keeping an inventory of Chinese imports for the company I work for. Absolutely nothing exciting or glamorous about it but it is a J-O-B.
I currently reside in central Ohio (land of teams unable to come thru in the clutch.) Other than following UK basketball my true highlights in life are my wife and three children, the oldest of which is starting her first year of organized b-ball (she's only 10 but I'm expecting the calls from coach Mitchell to start anyday now!)
Briefly attended the Ohio State University... lived in Austin, TX for about a year....awesome,awesome city, I highly recommend a visit. I also lived in El Paso for about three years (pre BCG.)
All in all I would say I am pretty low-key but watching UK on tv does tend to bring out both the best and worst of me.

Also new to the group
I was born in NC, but all of my family is from the Cincy, Kentucky area so I have been a UK fan my whole life.
Living in the capitol of NC it's hard to hear about anything but ACC news so this place is a breathe of fresh air.

I often wondered what sort of career longevity the non-star women's players have.
On a side note, as a LONGtime message board maven, I will make some assumptions about identities. If I'm correct, you've taken a beating over the years at times on message boards, but I always found you passionate and ready and able with some stats.
A belated welcome aboard.

Coaching girls HS ball now. State champs her first year. Runner-up last year. #1 in state this year (so far).
She played 10 years in ABL and WNBA. Non-stars are usually gone in 1 or 2 but often make $ in Europe (etc).
Beatings come with the territory. I don't mind.

Mike Casey ...
I remember taking a charge from him one time. Man, he was mad, but it was a good call. He got out on the break and came in on the right wing. I beat him to the block and was as still as a statue when he hit me.
Also, you may remember Evan Settle, who just died a couple of years back. Mr. Settle was the longest living letterman of Adolph Rupp's tenure at UK, and died at 93 years young in 2006.
I can never call him "Evan" because he was my high school algebra teacher and golf coach. He used to coach basketball at Shelbyville, but gave that spot up just before I got there. Crusty old curmudgeon, but we loved him dearly. His acerbic wit was truly remarkable, and if you were the object of his ire, devastating.

Living in Arkansas
I am a military brat. My father was born and raised near the Shawnee part of Louisville (he even ran in the park at the same time as Cassius Clay a few times)which explains my ties to UK. He is a Louisville (Pitino) fan.
My mom was born in Massachusetts, I was born in England and my sister was born in Texas.
I am 35, have two girls 12 and 6. The oldest has been playing ball for three years now. The youngest just started.
Arkansas is a nice place. It helps to "know" people because this place is expanding at a phenomenal rate. Much of the country has been hit hard in real estate but here it has been rather steady and has continued to grow.
I like working in tv because it gives me time to visit ASoB, meet interesting people and develop material for the movie I am going to write. Some of the stuff that happens here you can't make up. An example? How about a blind studio cameraman? How is he supposed to check his focus? I am still waiting on the deaf audio person!!!!
So that's my semi story. I am stickin to it.
By the way, my username is a reference to the fact that i have two prosthetic legs. I was born that way (not with the prothetic legs) so feel free to make cracks and fire questions. I am not a PC kinda guy so I felt it necessary to mention this so you don't think I was bashing blind and deaf folks and their abilities a moment ago. :) I am going to go whistle in the dark now.

Who me?
Age:35
Born in the UK med.center. and I have been a fan ever since. My fondest memories growing up are listening to Cawood on the radio in the tobbacco stripping room. My job when I was 4 or 5 was to turn up the radio when needed to hear it over whatever machinery was running in the barn. I took that job very seriously...
Went to school in Jessamine county and went to UK for 3 years before moving to Columbus, oh for a business venture. That didn't pan out, but I still live and work up here.
Oh, and to keep the ball rolling:

Wandered into the diaries for the first time...
I'm 29, born and raised in the rural part of Hardin County... but its just easier to say Elizabethtown. I'm a chiropractor (hence the username) who graduated undergrad in 2000 from Murray State with a degree in Chemistry and Organizational Communication (had to balance the chem grades with something easy!) and then graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa in 2004. I've been in private practice for almost 2 years now.
As an aside, I almost blew an o-ring the first time I saw Law and Order pre-empted for state high school wrestling championships in Iowa.

Watched First UK Final Four at 3 months
I don't post often, but for the curious, I spent my first 18 years in Lexington. Graduated from a small liberal arts school in northeast TN - Milligan College. I have remained here since graduating in 2000. Studied at seminary for 2.5 years, but only halfway through an M. Div.
I work a few part-time jobs, currently sub teaching, parks and rec gym suppervisor, and maintenance at Emmanuel School of Religion. My career, for which I don't get paid, is youth ministry at a church, campus ministry at East Tennessee State (go Bucs!), and coaching Little League (go Lightning!).
