Interesting matchup??? Woodson vs. T. Polo

I have to admit that before the Lindley fumble recovery and return to score at the end of the first half I was finding myself drifting off into thoughts of "Only 3 more weeks to Big Blue Madness!" Anyway, with the way that the Cats have closed out the past two games it's been pretty amazing to be a UK football fan these days. I even found myself scanning today for info on Florida Atlantic. An interesting thing I noticed is that the they have a Freshman leading Div IA in interceptions. Could this be the streak ender for Woodson? Do you think the streak is holding Woodson back as far as being a bit hesitant or too careful with the ball resulting in too many sacks?

Obviously, Woodson is off to a great start this year. Maybe he is not putting up huge Heisman stats compared to some of the other candidates, but he's making good decisions and providing the leadership that is getting us over the hump and winning ball games. I think the balanced running attack may keep Woodson's numbers from being a final contender for the award, but I'd rather have the team be fighting for a spot in the SEC championship. Who knows? There's still a lot of football to be played.

I think ...
one of the reasons Woodson has done so well is that he refuses to be forced into throwing the ball until he is ready.

Sometimes, this results in a sack, but nobody would rather have an interception.  Woodson will eventually throw one, but more than likely, it will be a tipped ball or a hit on him in the throwing motion.

I read this diary title
and thought to myself, "Why is Teri Polo playing football?"
Looking for a rock to wind a piece of string around.

Tavious Polo
Haha... I couldn't remember the guy's name when I posted. Terry, Travis, Trevor, Tavious... so T seemed a safe bet. Anyway, with 6 picks in 4 games they guy must have some speed. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/sortables?stat=ints&group=80&year=2007

you called it
looks like you were right on the money. didn't see the game but from what i've heard it was more woodson making a super rare bad decision (or just a bad throw...hearing different things) more than polo making a play on the ball.

that's 7 picks already for the freshman...is he more of a shutdown corner or does he make and give up big plays? either way, i bet some bigger schools are kicking themselves for passing him up.

Woodson
Woodson went right at Polo all day yesterday. Polo is very quick but pretty small(145lbs). I know Tamme had at least one reception where he took advantage of that size mismatch. Woodson made a lot of great decisions yesterday, but the interception was like you said a super rare bad decision. Polo was in the right place at the right time. Maybe his size helps him stay out of the QBs field of vision, which is what tends to lead to a lot of interceptions.

It was ...
a bad throw off the back foot into heavy coverage.  Very bad decision, but Polo made a good play on the ball and ended the streak.

Just as well, I was concerned it was getting too much attention, anyway.  Brooks seemed happy to see it end, as well.
