Meeks

A lot has been made of University Of Kentucky basketball this off-season, the huge coaching move whether it is Tubby Smith leaving or Billy Gillispie getting hired after Donovan said no to the Cats.   And in recruiting though Alex Legion out of Oak Hill has committed to Kentucky, Jai Lucas and Patrick Patterson are still weighing in on their options.

You may ask me; well what other news was there to report?  Well I thought one of the biggest stories that didn't get reported is that my favorite current Wildcat Jodie Meeks was staying and not transferring.  This kid has great future as a Wildcat, he hustles for every loose ball, plays skin tight defense, hits three pointers, and often is the first person back on defense.  In games where he got a lot of playing time, Meeks was a spark igniting big Kentucky runs or scoring ten plus points.   And this player is just going to get better and better.     I am the only one that would be surprised if Meeks isAll SEC in some respect next year?   And hopefully when he enters his senior season we can have an all American campaign that says: "All He Does Is Win".

This was a similar ad campaign to the one of my favorite UK player in my lifetime Chuck Hayes, and that is exactly who Jodie reminds me of.  He gives everything he has every second that he is on the floor.   The scary thing is that he is only going to get better.

Love the Meeks
Jodie was a HUGE pickup by Tubby's staff, and one I'm sure Gillispie would love to send Tubby a bouquet of flowers for.

The kid exudes confidence and has no fear, two things that a lot of kids seem to talk about, but not actually possess.

By all accounts, Smith was particularly hard on Jodie, feeling he could take it. I hope that toughness pays off under BCG.

I totally agree
Meeks has that quality of leadership that we have been missing since Chuck Hayes left.  Hayes understood that every player must do what it takes to win, and subsume the individual plaudits into the needs of the team.

Next year, I expect he will be able to communicate that even better than last.

Jets
Not to mention the fact that he has jet engines attached to his sneakers.  Man is he fast!!  Meeks is the total package, I'm definitely looking forward to watching him develop at UK!

Indeed he was.
If he is 20% better this year than last, he will surely be something to watch.

Re: Meeks
Jodie is also my favorite current Cat and he defintely has a shot at All-SEC, he won 3 SEC Player Of the Week honors last year....

The kid likes to run, score, play D and give his all, what's not to love!?

Indeed.
I think Meeks may well be the fastest player with the ball I have seen in a Kentucky uniform in quite some time.
