Jasper at Point -- Brilliant

I've long been in the camp that couldn't figure out why on earth Bobby Perry and Sheray Thomas were starting. They're fine as role players, but Kentucky has better talent than that in the form of Perry Stevenson and Derrick Jasper.

It seems that OTS has finally realized that and stuck Jasper in the starting lineup. Even better, he put him at point to free up Ramel. That should cut out at least two turnovers a game and give the freedom to Ramel that he needs to fire away. Lord knows he's never seen a shot he didn't like.

Score one for Tubby tonight!

Interesting comment from Bobby Perry after the game:

"I think if he stays in the starting lineup, it's going to be a good thing for us," Perry added. "I like this lineup. We get those veteran guys out there and with Derrick running the point, we can get into our offense a little better. It gives us a different look, a little quicker look." (Courtesy of TCP)

Makes you think the players were hungry for a shake-up, too. Though probably not Sheray Thomas.

Jasper at the Point

It was nice to see a team on the court that actually looked comfortable in the offense. I would really be surprised to not see him in the starting five for the rest of the year. Not to take anything away from Bradley, but Jasper gives us a true point guard with some serious rebounding help. It will be intersting to see us with this 5 against a stronger opponent (IU). Go Cats!!!
