Built Ford tough: Cards fall to UMass
Three days before hosting Kentucky in the annual grudge match, the Rick Pitino Louisville Cardinals (as Sebastian Telfair might say) took one on the chin, 72-69.
Ouch.
Granted, the Minutemen aren't terrible at all. In fact, they're 9-2, their only losses are to #4 Pitt and Boston College. While their wins aren't much to look at (except now, the Big East's Cardinals), they have a good young coach in former Wildcats point man Travis Ford and a great frontline anchor in Rashaun Freeman.
Don't forget, this isn't UMass' last trip to the Bluegrass this winter. They play Kentucky at Rupp on Dec. 22.
Poor Louisville fans. They want so badly to believe, but Pitino just won't let them.

Well...
I would have loved to see Louisville win this game. I have to admit taking some serious glee in their recriminations, though:
Re: How many years in a row will being young be our excuse?Coach can recruit great talent, but cannot seem to foster team chemistry. There seems to be little cohesion as the makeup of this team is shuffled around on a yearly bases. A whole team full of star athletes and no journeyman players who hold the whole thing together.
As for uk, if we shoot the lights out from the 3 point range then we will win, if not we will lose handlly.
This is the most talented mediocre team in America. The success of this season is questionable.
Where oh where have I heard this before? And when was the last time you heard somebody complain about a lack of journeymen players?
The irony is so rich, it simply makes one shake their head in amazement...
