Tayshaun the ambassador ...
The one thing that impressed me most -- other than clogging -- about Big Blue Madness was Tubby Smith's use of recognizable pro players in the video intros.
It was very smart, and he should continue the practice at every opportunity. UNC does it, and so do Arizona and Kansas. Not just for recruiting directly, but also as a way to raise the profile of the program.
(More after the jump)
Kentucky has one of the best ambassadors there is in Pistons forward Tayshaun Prince. I have to admit even I didn't think that Tay-Tay would be so good so fast. I mean, he was effective at UK, but he should have been an All-Star last year, and could be this year.
According to this piece from NBA.com, Prince also surprised even his suitors in the Pistons, who then anxiously awaited their pick in the draft, convinced someone else knew their secret -- Prince was possibly the best player in the draft.
While Yao Ming is more dominant because of his size, and Amare Stoudemire more powerful, Prince might be the most vital to his team -- and he's the only one with a ring.
Tubby Smith needs to do everything he can to show how his players not only get to the league, but thrive there. For today's high school stars, it's the best recruiting tool there could be.
